Carolyn Christesen has been teaching accounting at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, New York, since 1998. After 24 years of full-time teaching, including many years as curriculum and department chair, she is currently teaching online introductory courses as an adjunct. She completed a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Eastern Connecticut State University as well as BBA and MBA degrees in Public Accounting from Pace University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and is a recipient of the American Accounting Association J. Michael and Mary Ann Cook award, the State of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Westchester Community College Foundation’s Teaching Excellence award.

 Among her out-of-the-classroom professional activities, Carolyn advised the Accounting Club for ten years and co-chaired the advisory committee for COAP, a summer program for high school minority students. She also serves on committees for the AAA.

 Prior to her appointment at Westchester, Carolyn taught accounting at Pace University and worked at KPMG and a small accounting firm doing auditing and accounting work. She raised three daughters and lives with her husband in Connecticut. They love to read, cook, and spend time with friends and family, including their six grandchildren.
