West Valley College
Term: 2026 – 2029
Teresa has been a member of TACTYC since 2008. She always knew she wanted to teach accounting, but quickly learned that knowing accounting and teaching accounting require very different skill sets. Organizations like TACTYC have played an important role in her development as an educator by connecting passionate faculty with practical teaching strategies, learning science, and a community of colleagues committed to making a meaningful impact on students and the accounting profession.
In 2023, Teresa joined the TACTYC Board. At that point in her career, it felt like the right time to expand her focus from supporting faculty at her own college to supporting accounting educators across the country. She is an enthusiastic advocate for TACTYC and especially enjoys helping faculty discover the resources, professional development, and community the organization has to offer.
Teresa is a tenured accounting professor at West Valley College in Northern California, where she primarily teaches introductory accounting courses. She loves bringing pop culture, connection, and play into her classes whenever possible. Over the years, that has included themed syllabi, escape rooms, and approachable, engaging open-source textbooks. At her college, she has been involved in faculty development, curriculum development, and leadership of the college's Entrepreneurship Center.
When she is not working — well, actually, that is not really a thing. Teresa is almost always working on something she loves: classroom activities, textbooks, articles, 8-Bit Accounting games, or TACTYC. Her family, and cats, deserve medals for putting up with her.
