Cathy Scott is currently Professor of Accounting and the Accounting Program Department Chair at 
Navarro College. Cathy made a career shift into academics in 2004 after a 25 year accounting, consulting and training career within the automotive and RV industries. She holds a Ph.D. in Organization and Management from Capella University, a post graduate Accounting Certificate from Keller Graduate School of Management, an MBA in Strategic Leadership from Amberton University and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Nazareth College.

Cathy is a proud recipient of the 2014 Texas Society of CPA’s Outstanding Accounting Educator Award, the 2012-2013 American Accounting Association’s Two-Year College Educator of the Year Award, and Navarro College’s 2010 Teaching of Excellence Award. She has also received recognition for her involvement in various professional and community service organizations, including the 2012 Rotaract Founder’s Award, 2009 Lion’s Club Humanitarian Award, and the Ford Motor Company Business Management Outstanding Achievement Award, Ford Division Accountants Honor Roll 1993, 1992.

Cathy currently serves as the American Accounting Association Two-Year College Vice President and Council Representative, she is a board member for the Teachers of Accounting at Two-Year Colleges, the webmaster for the Texas Business and Technology Educators Association, and she serves on the Texas Society of CPAs Relations with Educational Institutions Committee. Cathy also serves as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) college liaison and volunteer trainer Additionally, Cathy is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, National Business Educator’s Association, the Academy of Management, and the Texas Community College Teachers Association.

Cathy has spoken and published about effectively using technology in the classroom, improving online education and engaging students with activity learning. She is also an author on a College Accounting textbook with a career focused approach.
